I'm Dr. Krystal Johnson, founder of The College Prep Collective and a college access professional with over a decade of experience in admissions, financial aid, and college readiness. I've worked at institutions like Columbia University, led college access nonprofits, and helped hundreds of students gain acceptance to highly selective colleges.

When should we start working together? +
The earlier the better — sophomore year is ideal. But I've helped seniors with months until deadlines get great results too. If you're reading this, it's not too late.
Do you only work with high-achieving students? +
Absolutely not. I work with students across all academic profiles. The goal is finding the right fit college — not the most prestigious one.
What makes you different from a school counselor? +
School counselors are incredible — and often stretched thin with hundreds of students. As a private counselor, I give your student my full attention and expertise, tailored entirely to them.
Do you help with financial aid? +
Yes. Financial aid strategy is woven into everything I do. I help families understand what colleges actually cost, how to appeal award letters, and how to find scholarship funding.
Are sessions virtual or in-person? +
All sessions are virtual, which means I can work with families anywhere in the country.
What if my student is already a senior? +
Senior year is one of the most impactful times to get support. Essay coaching, application review, deadline management, and financial aid strategy can all make a significant difference even late in the process.
